Canucks rookie Elias Pettersson has emerged as one of the NHL’s most electrifying players — and his career has spanned only five games.
But the 19-year-old’s dazzling abilities with the puck might be put on hold after a controversial body slam-like hit left him wobbly and caused him to leave Saturday night’s game early in the third period. Pettersson had trouble standing initially after the hit.
Canucks coach Travis Green called the hit from Panthers defenseman Mike Matheson a “dirty play” and forward Sven Baertschi told reporters it “looked like WWE to me.”
