Carmelo Anthony has expanded the list of teams he’s willing to play for, which now includes the Cleveland Cavaliers, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.
The person requested anonymity because of the ongoing nature of the discussions.
Anthony, armed with a no-trade clause, had only approved of a deal to the Houston Rockets, but the summer-long stalemate between the New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony might be thawing a bit.
The Daily News first reported discussions between the Cavs and Knicks.
The Cavs and Knicks have only had cursory discussions, and there are currently no parameters of a deal.
The Cavs aren’t interested in including the No. 1 pick they recently acquired from the Boston Celtics in the blockbuster Kyrie Irving trade.
